  神农架保护地位于中国中部。这里是中国西部高山向中东部丘陵过渡地区，构成了北亚热带至寒温带气候过渡变化带。
  Shennongjia Protected Area is located in the transitional 
area in central China between the western mountainous 
region and eastern hilly region. This area is also the 
transitional belt between the northern subtropical zone 
and the cool temperate zone.

  神农架保护地拥有全球中纬度地区唯一保存完好的北亚热带森林生态系统，是世界生物多样性关键地区之一。《中国生物多样性保护计划》将神农架保护地列为17个具有世界意义的生物多样性关键地区之一；神农架保护地有高等植物3239种，地区特有植物达116种，脊椎动物493种，是川金丝猴地理分布的最东端。
  With the only intact northern subtropical forest 
eco-system in the world's mid-latitude regions, 
Shennongjia Protected Area is one of the world's key 
areas of biodiversity conservation. The National 
Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan of China lists 
Shennongjia Protected Area one of the 17 key biodiversity
conservation areas with global significance; 
Shennongjia Protected Area has 3,239 higher plant 
species, 116 local endemic species, 493 vertebrate 
species, and it is also the farthest eastern habitat 
of Sichuan Snub-nosed Monkey.

  19世纪末，英国学者奥古斯汀•亨利开启神农架科学考察。其后，众多考察逐步揭示了神农架巨大的生态价值，引起全球关注。1982年，神农架保护地建立，1986年被中国政府确立为国家级森林和野生动物类型的保护地。1990年，神农架保护地加入联合国教科文组织（UNESCO）世界人和生物圈保护区。
  In the end of the 19th century, Irish plantsman 
Augustine Henry initiated the scientific investigation 
in Shennongjia. Following investigations have gradually 
revealed the significant ecological value of Shennongjia 
and attracted global attention. In 1982, Shennongjia 
Protected Area was established, and in 1986 it was 
approved by the state government of China as a national 
protected area of forest and wildlife. In 1990, 
Shennongjia Protected Area was included in the UNESCO 
Man and the Biosphere Programme.

  历经30多年，神农架保护地自然保护卓有成效，科学研究成果丰硕，生态旅游有序开展，社区共管融洽和谐，基础管理科学规范。2006年，荣膺中国示范保护地，2013年获批联合国教科文组织世界地质公园。
  After over 30 years of effort, Shennongjia Protected 
Area has implemented effective nature conservation, 
fruitful science research, orderly development of 
eco-tourism, harmonious community co-management and 
proper basic management. In 2006, Shennongjia Protected 
Area was awarded as a national model of protected areas, 
and in 2013, it joined the Global Geoparks Network 
supported by UNESCO.
